The most popular for postgraduate students is the Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS) programme, which provides monthly stipends of approximately EUR 850–1,200, travel allowances, and health insurance. Given that German public universities already charge no tuition fees, a DAAD stipend effectively makes studying in Germany almost cost-free. There are also DAAD scholarships for research stays and language courses. Applications are submitted directly to DAAD Nairobi, with multiple windows across the year. Brian Odhiambo, our DAAD alumnus, leads all Germany-related scholarship guidance.

It provides a one-time award of EUR 5,000 to international students from outside the European Economic Area who are enrolling in a bachelor's or master's programme at a participating institution. While not fully funded, it is considerably more accessible than most government scholarships and serves as a strong financial boost in the first year of study β€” which is often the most expensive. Many Dutch universities also offer their own top-up excellence scholarships. Applications are made directly to the chosen Dutch university, typically between January and May for September intake. The Netherlands is increasingly popular with Kenyan students for its English-taught programmes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything prospective students and parents typically ask us.

How much does Arbeiders charge for its services?
+

Our initial consultation is completely free. Service fees depend on the destination and package selected β€” we are transparent about all costs upfront with no hidden charges. Contact us for a detailed breakdown.

What KCSE grade do I need to study abroad?
+

Requirements vary by country and program. Generally, a C+ and above opens most doors. Some destinations like Germany and China are more accessible for B– grades, while top UK and US universities typically require A– and above. We assess your profile individually.

Can I work while studying abroad?
+

Yes β€” most destinations allow part-time work. Australia permits 48 hrs/fortnight, the UK and Germany allow ~20 hrs/week, Canada allows 24 hrs/week, and Japan allows 28 hrs/week. The USA restricts work to on-campus roles (20 hrs/week) during term.

How long does the full application process take?
+

It depends on the destination. UK and Australia applications take 3–6 months from first consultation to visa. Canada and USA can take 6–12 months for competitive programs. We recommend starting at least one year before your intended intake date.

Do you guarantee visa approval?
+

No agency can legally guarantee a visa β€” that decision rests with the embassy. However, our thorough visa coaching, financial documentation review, and mock interview preparation give our students significantly higher approval rates than the national average.

What scholarships are available for Kenyan students?
+

There are many β€” Chevening (UK), Fulbright (USA), CSC (China), GKS (South Korea), MEXT (Japan), DAAD (Germany), Commonwealth (UK), and Holland Scholarship (Netherlands). Several are fully funded. We actively identify and apply for all scholarships you qualify for.

Is studying in Germany really free?
+

Yes β€” public German universities charge no tuition fees for international students. You only pay a semester administration fee of roughly €100–400. You do need to show a blocked account (Sperrkonto) of approximately €11,208 for your visa application to cover living costs.

Can I bring my family with me when I study abroad?
+

In many countries, yes. The UK, Canada, Australia, and Germany allow dependants (spouse and children) to accompany you on a student visa, subject to financial requirements. We advise on the specific conditions for each destination.
